UNEP fosters a proactive approach to emerging environmental issues confronting the region through partnerships and network development, capacity building and public awareness and policy development. Initiatives that are underway are the Atmospheric Brown Clouds (ABC), Glacier Melting and Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOF) and Dust and Sandstorms. Other emerging issues that UNEP is tackling are waste management, including e-waste, eco-housing and transport, Sustainable Development Pathways, environment security, and environment and health.
