Programmes in UNEP ROAP

Delivery of the UNEP Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific's programme of work is shaped by the complex and daunting environment and development challenges of the region.

It is also shaped by a policy framework which recognises the value of:

  • Inter-agency cooperation, programme synergy and joint activity
  • Integration of global, regional and national environmental concerns
  • New and innovative approaches to environmental policy making, particularly in responses to the process of globalisation
  • Early warning on impending environmental catastrophes and rapid responses
  • Public awareness and public participation
  • Strategic planning for environmental management, natural resource conservation and sustainable use, particularly at sub-regional level
  • Promoting South-South cooperation, the transfer of appropriate technologies and replication of best practices

UNEP's Regional Office for Asia and Pacific is well positioned to assist in the process of identifying and implementing solutions to global and regional environmental problems.
